African maritime experts have outlined recommendations to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities from the IMO's Net Zero Framework on shipping emissions. The Association of African Maritime Administrations (AAMA) convened in Mombasa, Kenya, to address impacts on African economies.

They proposed actions for equitable implementation of the framework, fair revenue allocation from maritime carbon pricing, and a collaborative approach for capacity building. A roadmap for Africa's maritime transition and engagement with the IMO was also recommended.
