A.P. Moller-Maersk Receives Final Vessel in Methanol Ship Series in South Korea

A.P. Moller-Maersk has received the Barcelona Mærsk, the final vessel in its series of 17,480-TEU dual-fuel methanol container ships, from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea, bringing its total to approximately 19 methanol-capable ships.

Equipped with an eight-cylinder MAN B&W dual-fuel engine and two methanol fuel tanks, the vessel can travel up to 23,000 nautical miles. Maersk aims for a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions using green methanol and targets net-zero emissions by 2040.
