Australia's Canola Production Expected to Reach 6.4 Million Tonnes This Year

NEWS

A recent crop report forecasts that Australia will produce approximately 6.4 million tonnes of canola this year, marking a 34% increase over the ten-year average. Western Australia is projected to contribute 3.3 million tonnes, accounting for more than half of the national yield.

The state’s canola industry, bolstered by improved disease management and herbicide-resistant varieties, generates around $1.2 billion annually through exports. Additionally, canola oil is increasingly being used for biofuel production, contributing to rising prices.
