BioCarbon has secured $4.8 million from ARENA to advance its first commercial-scale biochar coke project in Bulahdelah, NSW. This funding supports the transition from pilot to industrial-scale production of GreenChar, a net-zero alternative to traditional metallurgical coke used in steelmaking.

The facility aims to produce renewable carbon products, enabling emissions reduction at cost parity with conventional coke. BioCarbon will also provide GreenChar for trials to industry partners, facilitating future supply partnerships.
