Black Bull Biochar Secures £4 Million Funding for Expansion in Sustainable Agriculture
Black Bull Biochar (BBB) has raised £4 million in a late seed funding round to expand its operations in the North West of England and enter northern Europe. The funding includes £2 million in equity from TSP Ventures, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority Investment Fund, and Old College Capital, alongside £2 million in debt financing from Innovate UK's Future Economy Facility.
This investment will enhance BBB's production infrastructure and support new production sites, expanded research capacity, and new markets, including a recently opened subsidiary in Denmark. BBB's technology produces biochar from sustainably sourced biomass, decarbonizing industrial heat systems while improving soil health and crop yields. Founded in 2022, BBB aims to provide practical tools for farmers to enhance soil resilience and nutrient-use efficiency while contributing to carbon storage.
