CRecTech Launches Pre-Pilot System for Converting Biogas to Bio-Methanol in Singapore

METHANOLBIOFUELS

CRecTech has launched a pre-pilot reactor in Singapore aimed at converting waste biogas into bio-methanol, supporting maritime decarbonization goals. This compact reactor transitions from lab-scale testing to kilogram-scale production, utilizing underutilized biogas from sources like palm-oil-mill effluent and landfills.

The proprietary catalytic process allows for bio-methanol production at previously unsuitable sites, reducing capital and operational costs. The company aims to supply over 1 million tonnes of low-carbon methanol for bunkering by 2030, with an on-site pilot planned for 2026.

CRecTech was selected for the Breakthrough Energy Fellows - SEA program, which supports its scaling efforts in low-carbon methanol innovations. The pre-pilot system was presented at an event with investors and partners, marking a significant step in commercialization.
