Edinburgh Firms Artemis and Quoceant Secure £2.5 Million for Wave Power Prototype Development
Edinburgh companies Artemis Intelligent Power and Quoceant have received £2.5 million from Wave Energy Scotland to develop a prototype aimed at converting wave power into electricity. The firms are collaborating on a technology named 'Quantor', utilizing digital displacement hydraulics to enhance the efficiency of wave energy devices.
With Wave Energy Scotland's funding, they will construct and test a hybrid power transmission system on a lab rig that simulates various sea conditions. Quoceant's engineering expertise, particularly from the Pelamis wave energy device, supports this project. The Quantor initiative is part of Wave Energy Scotland's power take-off development program, which also includes funding for the University of Edinburgh and Italian firm Umbra Cuscinetti SpA.
