Tetra Tech, engaged by the Fraser Fort George regional district, has identified a viable lateral expansion for the Foothills Boulevard landfill that could add nearly one million cubic meters of airspace, postponing the necessity for a new cell by nine years. This expansion would cost about $8-9 million and requires adjustments to Fortis BC’s plans for renewable natural gas collection. While it presents an opportunity for cost savings and resource management, challenges remain, including the construction of a new access road and the rerouting of gas extraction wells.
