The first dual-fuel methanol very large crude carrier (VLCC), named The New Explorer, was delivered in Dalian, China, by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company for China Merchants Energy Shipping. Currently, the global methanol-fuelled fleet includes 97 vessels, with projections for an additional 366 by 2030, primarily in the container ship sector. This growth is anticipated to boost demand for lower-carbon alternatives such as green methanol and e-methanol.
