Glasgow Council Reports 149,000 Homes with Poor Energy Efficiency, Plans Retrofit Initiatives

FLOW CONTROL

According to Glasgow City Council, 149,000 homes, or 46% of the city's properties, have poor energy performance. With 35% of households in fuel poverty, the council aims to improve energy efficiency through retrofitting.

Currently, only 3% of homes meet high energy standards, while 65% are rated EPC bands A to C. The council plans to transition approximately 272,000 gas-heated homes to clean heat by 2045, requiring 13,500 transitions annually. Increased funding and political support are needed for effective implementation.
