Höegh Autoliners Takes Delivery of Seventh Aurora Class Vessel, Höegh Starlight
Höegh Autoliners has delivered its latest pure car and truck carrier, Höegh Starlight, marking the seventh Aurora Class vessel. Each Aurora vessel can carry up to 9,100 cars and features multi-fuel engines designed for LNG and convertible to zero-carbon ammonia.
The company aims for sustainability with strengthened decks for electric vehicles and infrastructure for shore-power and solar panels. The Aurora vessels are the first in the PCTC segment to receive DNV's ammonia-ready and methanol-ready notations, with the main engine supplied by MAN and bridge systems by Kongsberg Maritime. Höegh Autoliners has ordered a total of 12 Aurora vessels, with the first eight equipped for LNG and low-sulphur oil, and the final four, to be delivered by 2027, capable of operating on ammonia directly from the yard.
