GREEN STEEL
The Indian government is focusing on boosting steel production and securing raw materials to achieve its 2030 goal of 300 million tonnes of installed capacity. The strategy includes adopting low-carbon technologies and enhancing high-end steel production amid challenges like rising imports and fluctuating raw material prices. With current capacity at 235 million tonnes, an additional 65 million tonnes is needed by 2030, supported by initiatives like safeguard duties and a Production Linked Incentive scheme.
