Industry Consortium Launches Study for Methanol Bunkering Network in US Gulf Coast

METHANOL

ABS, Eneos, NYK Line, and Seacor are collaborating on a study to develop the first commercial ship-to-ship methanol bunkering service in the US Gulf Coast. Eneos will evaluate low-carbon methanol supply pathways, including green methanol from C2X's upcoming Beaver Lake Renewable Energy facility in Louisiana, which aims to produce 500,000 mt/year by late 2028.

NYK Line will leverage its LNG bunkering experience for methanol vessel development, while Seacor will provide operational expertise under the Jones Act. ABS will offer regulatory support to establish methanol bunkering in US waters. This initiative aligns with the global shipping industry's goal to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
