In 2025, Innisfail experienced significant economic development, highlighted by the construction of a new seed cleaning plant in the industrial park. Deep Sky Alpha commenced operations on its $50 million carbon capture and sequestration project, the first direct air capture facility in North America to sequester CO2 underground.

The town also advanced a residential subdivision with 61 mixed housing lots, of which 70% are conditionally sold, with construction set to begin next year. Additionally, a $15 million modernization of the aquatic center is underway, expected to open in April.

Mayor Jean Barclay was re-elected, with four new councillors joining the council. Future priorities will focus on housing and economic development, as indicated by Barclay ahead of the strategic planning session in January 2026.
