Jamaica Allocates $776M for Southern Plains Agricultural Development Project

The Jamaican Government has allocated $776 million for the Southern Plains Agricultural Development (SPAD) project in the 2026/27 budget. The project aims to enhance agricultural productivity by providing irrigation access and modernizing infrastructure in St Catherine and Clarendon.
Key achievements include the completion of well drilling, pump houses, and irrigation infrastructure, with 99% of Parnassus works finished. The project, initiated in December 2019, is expected to conclude in March 2028.
