Microsoft Signs $2.5 Billion Agreement for 3.6 Million Metric Tons of Carbon Removal from C2X's Beaver Lake Project

METHANOLCARBON CAPTURE

C2X Ltd. has signed a long-term agreement with Microsoft to deliver 3.6 million metric tons of engineered carbon removal over 12 years from the Beaver Lake project in Louisiana. The project, which represents a $2.5 billion investment, integrates bio-methanol production with permanent CO2 storage, targeting decarbonization in shipping, aviation, and industrial sectors.

The facility is designed to produce over 500,000 metric tons of bio-methanol annually and capture around one million metric tons of CO2 each year. The agreement includes rigorous lifecycle accounting and verification aligned with EU standards, ensuring net carbon removal. Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, with operations commencing in 2029, creating up to 1,150 jobs during construction and over 600 jobs once operational.
