In the wake of Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Moldova has undergone a rapid transformation in its energy sector, significantly increasing its renewable energy capacity. By April 2025, locally produced renewables provided 36% of the country's electricity.
The Moldovan government is actively pursuing investments in renewable energy and infrastructure modernization, while small investors and prosumers are engaging in the energy market. Future plans include enhancing energy storage solutions and establishing a national energy market operator to further attract private investment and ensure energy security.
