Moroccan SMEs Enhance Decarbonization and Digitalization Ahead of EU Carbon Regulations

A survey by the European Investment Bank reveals that nearly 70% of Moroccan SMEs are advancing decarbonization and digitalization efforts. 48% have implemented initiatives, while 22% actively pursue strategies. With the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism set for 2026, the need for carbon footprint management is critical for competitiveness in concerned sectors.
Digital usage is also high, with 79% of SMEs engaged in digital efforts. While most leaders find support mechanisms adequate, there is a strong demand for improvements, particularly in innovation and capacity-building.
