Petredec and Carnot Partner to Develop Alternative Fuel Marine Engines
METHANOLHYDROGENNATURAL GASAMMONIA
Petredec has partnered with Carnot Engines to create engines capable of using various alternative fuels, including LPG, LNG, ammonia, hydrogen, methanol, and diesel. Carnot's opposed-piston engine aims for thermal efficiency of up to 70%, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Petredec will assist in developing an LPG-fueled version and become a shareholder in Carnot. Durability testing is set to start in Q2 2026, with initial commercial models anticipated in the latter half of 2026.
