The Philippines has adopted a strategic framework to establish a high-integrity voluntary forest carbon market from 2026 to 2030. Developed with support from the UNDP, the roadmap aims to align forest restoration initiatives with climate goals while promoting sustainable livelihoods.

Key priorities include creating a policy framework for carbon rights, developing a National Forest Monitoring System, and ensuring fair benefit-sharing with local communities. The initiative will be overseen by the DENR and aims to attract investment in forest carbon projects.
