R52 Million Sewer Rehabilitation Project Launched in Welkom, South Africa

A R52 million sewer rehabilitation project has been launched in Ward 33, Welkom, lasting 24 months. The initiative aims to repair existing networks and rehabilitate dilapidated infrastructure to eliminate sewer challenges.

The project will create employment for 30 local laborers and is overseen by VCW. It is part of the national Sanitation Ministerial Intervention Programme, seeking to improve environmental health and service delivery. Current upgrades include the completion of 23 out of 57 pump stations and procurement of jetting trucks for operational efficiency.
