Rwanda Launches $2 Billion Kigali Innovation City to Enhance Africa's Digital Economy

The Government of Rwanda, Africa50, and BADEA have commenced construction on Kigali Innovation City (KIC), a $2 billion project aimed at fostering digital transformation in Africa. The 61-hectare development will integrate public and private investments, targeting innovation and technology-driven enterprises.

KIC is expected to generate $150 million in annual ICT exports and attract over $300 million in foreign direct investment. It will host universities, incubators, and research centers focused on advanced technologies, supporting Rwanda's shift towards a knowledge-based economy.
