Salisbury Secures $24.6M for Water Treatment Plant Upgrades and PFAS Remediation

The City of Salisbury, Maryland, has received $24.6 million in funding for water treatment plant upgrades from the Maryland Department of the Environment for fiscal year 2027. The funds will support the replacement of green sand pressure filters and upgrades to the SCADA system at the Paleo Water Treatment Plant, ensuring compliance with PFAS standards ahead of anticipated regulatory changes in 2031.
Construction is set to begin in summer 2026. Additionally, Salisbury has secured $9.5 million in federal grant funds for PFAS remediation through the EPA.
