Sigenergy Launches Bidirectional EV Charging Solutions in Australia and Europe

CLIMATE POLICY, REGULATION & CARBON MARKETS

Gavin Mooney in Melbourne, Australia, has integrated a 32 kWh battery with his 9.5 kW solar array and Tesla Model X to optimize energy usage, amid rising electricity costs. This move aligns with Australia's growing residential battery storage market, supported by over 1,000 installations daily since the Cheaper Home Batteries subsidy program began in July 2025.

His system enables vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities, enhancing energy efficiency and grid stability. Successful trials in Sweden and the Netherlands demonstrate the potential of V2G, with projects showing significant reductions in peak demand.

Studies indicate that by 2030, EVs in Europe could supply 4% of annual electricity needs. However, regulatory challenges remain, particularly concerning tax structures and interoperability in bidirectional charging, which could hinder widespread adoption.
