South Dakota PUC Approves Philip Wind Project in Haakon County

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission approved the Philip Wind Project in Haakon County on February 12, 2026. Philip Wind Partners, LLC plans to construct up to 87 turbines, generating 333 megawatts of energy across 68,300 acres, at an estimated cost of $750 million.
Construction is set to begin in June 2026, pending pre-construction activities. The project will include a 230-kV transmission line and is expected to be the largest wind farm in South Dakota.
