South Sudan-Uganda Power Interconnection Project to Boost Electricity Access and Trade

The South Sudan-Uganda Power and Teleconnection Project aims to increase electricity access in South Sudan from 7% to 10% while lowering energy costs. The initiative, led by the governments of South Sudan and Uganda with support from the Nile Basin Initiative, will facilitate the import of affordable electricity from Uganda and promote regional energy trade. The project includes a 300.5 km transmission line and various substations to improve electricity infrastructure and digital connectivity.
