SSAB to Build Electric Steel Plant in Luleå, Sweden for Green Steel Production by 2030

SSAB is set to construct an electric steel plant in Luleå, Sweden, aimed at achieving fossil fuel-free steel production by 2030. The transition from coal-fired blast furnaces to an electric arc furnace represents a €4.5 billion investment, supported by €71 million from the EU's Just Transition Fund, and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions in Sweden by 7%. The company will also train its 1,100 employees in the necessary skills for the new facility.
