Stirling Ranges Beef Farmer Implements Plastic Dam Lining to Enhance Water Conservation

NOVEL RENEWABLE ENERGY

Paul O'Meehan, a farmer at Stirling Ranges Beef in Western Australia, has installed plastic dam lining to improve water conservation amid drought conditions. The liner, similar to those used in mining, aims to reduce water loss from seepage and evaporation.

The farm produces 8,000 to 10,000 head of beef annually, with expectations to increase to 11,000 by 2026. This innovation allows for capturing lower rainfall events, enhancing the farm's water retention capacity.
