Sweden and India Collaborate on Clean Energy Decarbonization Initiatives
Sweden and India are partnering to accelerate clean energy solutions and achieve net-zero targets, focusing on sectors like steel and cement. This collaboration is part of the LeadIT initiative, launched by the prime ministers of both countries to co-develop technologies and share knowledge.
The targeted decarbonisation programme aims for systemic emission reductions and involves joint innovation, R&D, and project preparation. Swedish companies will showcase green technologies in India through workshops and policy dialogues, supported by government co-funding and engagement with research institutions.
Sweden, with a strong track record in offshore wind and nuclear energy, provides learning opportunities for India, which is starting offshore wind projects. Key Swedish measures to achieve climate goals include a legally binding climate target for 2045, carbon pricing, and collaboration across industry, government, and academia.
