Thailand to Enact Landmark Climate Change Law for Low-Carbon Transition
CLIMATE POLICY, REGULATION & CARBON MARKETS
Thailand is set to enforce its first climate change law, creating a national climate fund to support the transition from fossil fuels to a low-carbon economy. The bill mandates net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and establishes a framework for carbon pricing and adaptation measures.
The Department of Climate Change and Environment will oversee implementation, supported by various committees and a climate fund to finance clean technology and emission reductions. The law aims to attract foreign investment and enhance Thailand's position in the global low-carbon economy.
