TU Freiberg Processes Danish E-Methanol into Synthetic Gasoline under DeCarTrans Project

METHANOLHYDROGEN

TU Bergakademie Freiberg and CAC Engineering have successfully converted Danish E-Methanol into synthetic gasoline as part of the DeCarTrans project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport. The trial produced approximately 23,000 liters of nearly climate-neutral gasoline, utilizing biogenic CO₂ and green hydrogen, with a goal of achieving up to 90% CO₂ reduction compared to fossil fuels. A second trial is planned for Q2 2026 to assess long-term operational viability.
