UK Farmers Receive £2.3 Million for Green Technology Trials Under ADOPT Fund
The UK government has allocated nearly £2.3 million to support 30 farmer-led projects aimed at testing green technologies on farms. Announced by Farming Minister Dame Angela Eagle on December 15, the funding is part of the Accelerating Development of Practices and Technologies Fund (ADOPT), which focuses on practical trials before wider adoption.
Projects include testing peat-free compost made from coppice willow, retrofitting a Massey Ferguson 290 tractor to run on green methanol, and employing a Farm Digital Twin Platform for beef and sheep farms. The ADOPT Fund, delivered in partnership with Innovate UK, is part of a £20 million initiative for the 2025-2026 financial year, aiming to strengthen the UK's sustainable agri-tech leadership and support long-term productivity and resilience in agriculture.
