Walmart Invests $330 Million in Automation for Louisiana Distribution Center

Walmart is committing over $330 million to modernize its distribution center in Opelousas, Louisiana, incorporating robotics and automation to double shipping capacity. The multiyear project will begin this year and is part of a larger initiative to upgrade all 42 regional distribution centers. As of November 2025, over 60% of Walmart's U.S. stores receive freight from automated centers, contributing to reduced shipping costs.
