$70M Consumers Energy Battery Storage Project Proposed in Hampton Township, MI
ENERGY STORAGE
Consumers Energy has proposed a $70 million battery energy storage system, the Weadock Battery Energy Storage System, at a former coal-fired plant site in Hampton Township, MI. The 45 MW facility, featuring 36 lithium iron phosphate batteries, aims to improve grid reliability and is expected to generate property tax revenue and create jobs. A public hearing to review the special use permit is scheduled for February 12.
