HYDROGEN
Algeria aims to produce 1.2 million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2040, exporting through the 3,300 km SoutH2 Corridor to Europe. The national strategy, adopted in 2023, plans for 40 terawatt-hours of production, with 30 terawatt-hours for export.
Algeria seeks to meet 10% of projected European demand, partnering with Germany, Austria, and Italy. The country is also investing in a semi-industrial hydrogen production station in Arzew, supported by Germany and the EU, while Eni plans an €8 billion investment in various energy sectors.
