Alliant Energy is set to launch a 99-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System in Wever, Iowa, by January 30, 2026, following construction that began in May 2025. This facility will store energy from an adjacent solar farm, providing power to over 100,000 homes for up to four hours, while utilizing 98% recyclable lithium iron phosphate batteries designed for a 20-year lifespan. The project aims to enhance energy reliability and affordability for customers, incorporating advanced safety measures such as remote monitoring and fire detection systems.
