Astrophel Aerospace Develops Indigenous Cryogenic Pump for India's Space Launch Vehicles
HYDROGENSPACE ECONOMY
Pune-based Astrophel Aerospace is pioneering the development of an indigenous cryogenic pump for its Astra C1 rocket engine, marking a significant milestone in India's private space sector. The pump, capable of operating at 25,000 RPM, aims to evolve into a turbopump by late 2026, enhancing launch efficiency and sustainability.
Astrophel is also pursuing a collaboration with a U.S. partner for global commercial opportunities. This innovation is crucial for India's goal of growing its space economy from $8.4 billion in 2022 to $44 billion by 2033, with aspirations to capture 8% of the global market.
