Austin Water proposes a $600 million increase to construction costs for the Walnut Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion. The total cost is expected to reach $1.5 billion. The facility’s capacity will increase from 75 million gallons per day to 100 million by 2032 to accommodate population growth. Funding will be sourced through federal and state loans, local revenue bonds, and assistance from the Texas Water Development Board.
