Avinor Launches Liquefied Biogas Power Pilot at Svalbard Airport, Norway

Avinor has launched a pilot project at Svalbard Airport to produce electricity and heat from liquefied biogas, aiming to meet 100% of the airport's energy needs once fully operational. The combined heat and power plant is currently in a trial phase expected to last about one year, addressing the 20% of Avinor's total emissions attributed to the airport's energy consumption in 2022.
