Balance Eco Launches Biodiversity-Focused Balance Units for Carbon Credits
CARBON CAPTURECLIMATE POLICY, REGULATION & CARBON MARKETS
Balance Eco, a U.K. company, introduces Balance Units that prioritize biodiversity and social equity along with carbon offsetting. Buyers, including Kid-A and Ninja Tune, purchase these units, priced at £40 ($55), from projects like a 230-acre afforestation project in Scotland.
Balance Units require a minimum 100-year project protection and have converted 270,000 carbon credits with 5 million more in the pipeline. However, the approach faces skepticism from carbon market incumbents regarding its novelty and measurement standards.
