Transmission system operators from eight Baltic states have unveiled a coordinated offshore grid and wind development plan aimed for 2040, proposing 13GW of new interconnectors and up to 50GW of offshore wind capacity. The initiative, which aligns with national and European energy strategies, anticipates significant reductions in system costs, price peaks, and CO₂ emissions, positioning the Baltic region as a potential net exporter of electricity to Europe. This study serves as a model for enhanced European cooperation ahead of the upcoming North Sea summit in Hamburg.
