Barboursville Secures $5 Million Grant for Wastewater Lagoon Decommissioning and Infrastructure Upgrade
WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION
Barboursville has received a $5 million grant from the EPA for upgrading its wastewater system and decommissioning its lagoon. The project aims to reclaim 22 acres for new development, particularly commercial retail space.
The sewage from Barboursville will be redirected to the Pea Ridge sewer plant, which is completing a $30 million expansion. The overall project cost exceeds $20 million and has been in planning for several years to avoid raising sewer bills for residents.
