BMW Plans Hydrogen Fuel Cell System for X5 Production by 2028

A major project includes a hydrogen fuel cell system for the new BMW X5, set to begin production in 2028. Pre-series production starts in 2027, with the iX5 Hydrogen available in multiple markets. BMW is optimistic about hydrogen's role in decarbonization, supported by EU regulations on alternative fuel infrastructure.
