Bouregreg and Chaouia Basin Reports 82% Rainfall Increase, Boosting Water Resources

As of February 19, 2026, the Bouregreg and Chaouia hydraulic basin has seen an 82% increase in rainfall from the average, totaling 452.9 mm. This surge has led to significant water inflows of 1,080 million cubic meters in reservoirs, with groundwater levels rising by 1 to 3 meters. Plans for the second phase of a basin interconnection project and the ongoing seawater desalination plant in Casablanca were also highlighted by Minister Nizar Baraka.
