Bradford Launches Growth Plan to Achieve Core City Status

Bradford has unveiled a growth plan named Built Different, aiming to achieve Core City status through significant developments, including 2,500 homes at Southern Gateway, a new city centre rail station, and a tram line to Leeds. The initiative also plans to create 17,000 new homes by 2035, reduce unemployment to 4%, and establish a £1bn Airedale Hospital rebuild, while emphasizing cultural regeneration following Bradford's designation as City of Culture 2025. Additionally, the plan includes the development of a 24MW green hydrogen facility by 2027 and a focus on enhancing advanced manufacturing.
