Brainerd City Council has submitted a request for $10 million in federal funding to upgrade the wastewater treatment facility, targeting phase one improvements including mechanical dewatering and pretreatment enhancements, scheduled for completion in 2027-28. The funding request is part of Congressman Pete Stauber's Community Project Funding for fiscal year 2027. City officials are also monitoring other federal funding opportunities.
