Brazil has finalized its carbon capture framework with the 2024 Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) law, positioning the country to execute its first CO2 injection by mid-2026. This development, announced at COP30, involves collaboration between Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Society for Low Carbon Technologies, emphasizing the role of non-state actors in CCS initiatives. Concurrently, the UK confirmed a $28 billion commitment for CCUS investments, aligning with the CCS law's implementation.
