Brineworks Secures €1.8 Million Grant for Innovative Dual-Use Electrolyser System
HYDROGENCARBON CAPTURE
Brineworks, a Dutch startup, has received a €1.8 million grant from the European Innovation Council to commercialize a unique electrolyser that simultaneously captures carbon dioxide from the air and produces green hydrogen. This funding, part of a highly competitive selection process, will support Brineworks' first full-scale pilot project.
The patented electrolyser is designed for variable operation using renewable energy sources and aims to produce synthetic fuels such as sustainable aviation fuel and e-methanol. The company has already achieved capture costs below €100 per metric ton, indicating significant potential for scalable carbon removal.
