Canada Nickel Company Plans Carbon Storage Using Brucite at Crawford Nickel Mine in Ontario
STRATEGIC MINERALSCARBON CAPTURE
Canada Nickel Company Inc. is advancing its Crawford Nickel-Cobalt Sulphide Project near Timmins, Ontario, with plans to store carbon dioxide using brucite in mine tailings. The mine, expected to be Canada's largest nickel mine, aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from approximately 15,200 kilotonnes to 154 kilotonnes annually by 2030. The project has secured significant government funding and aims to create a low-carbon industrial cluster in the region, incorporating carbon mineralization technology.
