Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Awarded $17.8 Million from $472 Million Statewide Water Infrastructure Investment

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) will receive $17.8 million as part of a $472 million statewide initiative for water infrastructure projects. This funding, approved for 145 projects across 66 counties, aims to enhance aging systems, improve storm resilience, and reduce contamination, including lead pipe replacement.
Key allocations include $33 million to Goldsboro for PFAS removal and $10 million to Newland for drinking water improvements. The State Water Infrastructure Authority conducted a review of 198 applications totaling $1.89 billion.
